The low camera position was critical in the success of making this image work. This however made for a precarious tripod position in the river and awkward footings on slippery stones while I crouched and craned my neck painfully, attempting to compose and focus this image. One false move would have ensured a soaking. Never the less, I am happy that no trace of this 'effort' can be sensed in this serene image.
I was drawn to this scene by the line of three large stones that lead the eye to the overhanging branch on the far left side of the image which in turn leads your eye to the top of the river and then you follow the rivers flow back to the foreground and starting point creating an endless flow. Devices like these help to keep the eye moving through an image enhancing the feeling of depth and movement.
