As I waited patiently for the sun to drop lower in the sky assured of a fabulous sunset after a crystal clear day of sun and light fluffy cloud the unthinkable happened. A band of thick cloud appeared on the western horizon and swallowed the sun dashing all hope of a sunset.
Despondently I shouldered my camera gear and headed down to the beach anyway as the sky turned grey. Whilst cursing my bad luck, kicking stones and wishing I could extend my stay in Cornwall I became aware that something special was happening to the light. The sun had now set but its departing ambience was lighting the cloud and illuminating the land around me. I hurried to find a composition amongst the rocks that balanced with the mount and worked with the encroaching tide. Not so unlucky after all.
