This was my second visit to this infamous scene of Turners 'The Haywain'. My first photographic record was made in dull conditions and flat lighting with little success. As I stood looking at the scene in shadow thinking I'm not going to be able to do any better this time a workman seeming to read my thoughts said 'The best time to photograph it is in about an hour or so when the sun comes through that gap.'
Time for a coffee and a look round the National Trust shop then. He had been right, soft sun rays side lit the cottage and I got my shot.
