I scouted this area of woodland for two hours searching for a view that worked. I wanted bracken and I wanted trees and there were plenty of both about but finding the right composition can be difficult and nowhere more so than in woodland.
I chose this view point because I liked the way the large foreground bracken was repeated in the middle distance offering visual stepping stones. The simple elegant shapes of the trees are clear and pronounced against the soft light of the clearing beyond which helps to draw the eye through the frame.
