Getting up and out to a chosen destination before sunrise in the summer can mean a very early start. Fortunately I didn't have to travel far for this shot as my wife and I were staying in a cottage hidden by the trees in the middle distance of this photograph of Great Fryupdale.
Whenever we book a holiday cottage I endeavour to find somewhere with photographic potential right on the doorstep and we came up trumps here. Even though it was still late summer the low temperature and strong winds up high on the moors necessitated the use of several layers, hat and gloves. And after an hour or more hovering by the tripod in the cold I was more than ready to head back to the warmth of the cottage for breakfast. A great fry up? I hear you ask. No, but a bacon sandwich sufficed.
