This view certainly needs no explanation taken from next to the Millennium wheel. Done before but such an iconic view just has to be taken.
Shooting at dusk necessitated the use of a tripod to keep things sharp during the long exposure. No easy feat when one is also having to avoid the tripod police along this stretch of the Thames. Although approached I was able to negotiate a few minutes grace before moving on. My advice is to pre-plan exactly where and how to shoot and then wait until the right moment to strike. Deploy the camera and tripod, grab the shot and go!
(Retrospective comment: I should point out that this image was taken long before the more recent London terror attacks so this may now be a no no with heightened security.)
