I had been attempting to get a decent photograph of Roseberry Topping from Cliff Ridge a short walk from here during the afternoon but unflattering light had not been productive. Having packed up and headed back down the hill the cloud broke up and the sun appeared bathing Roseberry Topping in golden sunlight.
Having reasoned with my wife Jan that it would be worth staying just a little longer despite having only just set off back for the car I quickly composed this view using the yellowing bracken as foreground interest. It gives a bit of colour to the otherwise uninteresting shaded grass area in the immediate vicinity and helps to lead the eye over the farm gate by partially covering it.
