Scaleber Force is a beautiful and secluded waterfall and was the first place I visited with the camera on this holiday to the Yorkshire Dales. However after a lengthy lay off from photography I was rusty and when I uploaded the raw files back at the cottage it was clear that I'd not made the best of it. The light was poor and the compositions messy with too many ugly distractions.
On the day we were due to drive home from Yorkshire we would need a short break to walk our dog after packing and before hitting the road properly so I ventured Jan walking Bob around Scalber Force while I had one last photographic foray. Jan obliged. Game on!
This time I got stuck in and climbed up onto the falls to get up close rather than photographing timidly from afar. I also remembered to use my polariser to cut out reflections and saturate the colour. With my eye back in and some useful practice over the preceding days I was now able to make some useful images. Mission accomplished!
